Victoria is Australia’s most densely populated state and its second-most populous state overall.
Most of its population is concentrated in the area surrounding Port Phillip Bay, which includes the metropolitan area of its capital and largest city, Melbourne, which is Australia’s second-largest city.
Melbourne also served as capital of Australia until the construction of Canberra in 1927, with the Federal Parliament meeting in Melbourne’s Parliament House and all principal offices of the federal government being based in Melbourne.
There is enough to see and to do in Melbourne.
But what is the best place to stay in Melbourne ?
One of my favorites is the Westin Melbourne at Regent Place.
The hotel is located in the middle of the Centre from Melbourne.
This is the external view that you see, if you stand on the Balcony from the hotel.
You can see the Train Station in Flinders Street and the St Paul’s Cathedral, which is located next to the hotel.

It’s all true but one of the reasons for me to stay at the Westin Hotels are their great beds.
The Westin is famous for it’s great Heavenly Beds.
And after a long flight with Qatar Airways from Doha to Melbourne, that was the only thing I wanted to do.
Sleep in the great Heavenly Bed.
We arrived at 22.10 at Melbourne International Airport, so a perfect time arrive at the hotel and sleep the jetlag away.
In Melbourne we always use Eagle Limousine Services
George is always there to welcome us.
You pay a little bit more than an average cab service, but the service is well worth it.
In 30 minutes, George had dropped us off at the Westin hotel at Regent Place.
As soon as you arrive at Regent Place you know that you are in the middle of the Theater District.
The Lion King is performing at the Regent Theatre, opposite the entrance from the hotel.
We where welcomed by the Dutch Duty Manager Hans, who welcomed us at the entrance of the hotel.
Hans knew that we came from the Netherlands and he was happy to say hello to us.
He introduced us the receptionist, who explained us all details about the hotel and checked us in.
The Wellness and Swimming pool where under construction and would be opening in another 3 weeks time.
But as The Westin Melbourne is part of the Starwood Hotel Group, we could use the swimming pool from the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel.
But all new Customers from The Westin in Melbourne can now enjoy a brand new wellness centre with a great swimming pool, as it has been opened in the meantime.
Mr Smulders, room 636 is ready for you, we have upgraded you as a SPG member to a corner suite.
Free WiFi internet is included as well.
So that was a great start of our stay at The Westin Melbourne Hotel.
We where welcomed in our room, by a very nice suprise.
A chocolate welcome gift with the Qatar Airways logo, as we arrived with Qatar Airways from Doha.
A very nice personal attention, that I have never seen before on my trips.
Room 636
A great spacious suite on the corner at Swanston Street and Collins Street.
And the Heavenly Bed slept really great.
The best solution to overcome your jetlag, after a long flight from over 14 hours.
The room has all the features that you need.
Spacious, clean, great bed, WiFi and a large bathroom with great amenities.
It was time to start the day with a great breakfast.
Breakfast is served at the Allegro restaurant at level 1.
They serve you all the things that you need.
If it’s not there, just ask for it and they will make it for you.
All kind of eggs, Brussels Wafels, French Toast and Smoothies.
And for me very important, the Fresh Orange Juice.
After these kind of breakfasts, you are ready to start your day, exploring Melbourne.
When we arrived back in the hotel, we had a great Dinner at the Allegro restaurant.
After the dinner it was time to unwind in the Lobby Lounge.
The lobby Lounge is not an executive Lounge, but just a normall Hotel lounge, where they also serve the Moet Chandon Champagne.
The Westin Melbourne does not offer an executive lounge.
But the Lobby Lounge will do for many guests.
The Westin Melbourne is not only a great Business Hotel, but also very suitable for the leisure traveller.
A great place to stay, if you want to explore the great amazing city, Melbourne.
If you want to experience something special, make sure you stay at this hotel.
