Excelsior Palace Hotel Rapallo Italy
If you go to Italy, you will not find many hotels like you will find in other European Countries, and for sure it will be hard to find a 5 star hotel outside the main cities from Italy.
Most people stay at camping sites, but if you have a look at different hotel sites , it is very easy to find these 5 star hotels for the best price available.
But also these prices are still very high if you compare these 5 star hotels in Italy with other 5 star hotels in other countries in Europe.
But we found our hotel using the app and ended up in Rapallo.
The Excelsior Palace Hotel is the only 5 star luxury Hotel on the Portofino Coast.
Facing the Bay of Rapallo to the east and Portofino to the west, provides you with breathtaking views.
The Excelsior Palace Hotel is a Renaissance Palazzo Style Hotel.
A hotel with 129 rooms, 111 double rooms, 12 Junior Suites and 6 Suites.
The hotel has already had the pleasure to welcome guests such as George Clooney, Michelangelo Antonioni, Burt Bacharach, Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, Bruce Springsteen and The E- Street Band, Amii Stewart and Dionne Warwick.
Also Dutch comedian John Kraaijkamp Sr stayed here with his family.
We parked our car in front of the hotel.
There are about 25 parking spaces available free of charge, but you can also use the garage for a small fee to park your car
The Bellboy took our luggage from our car and we went to the reception for our check-in procedures.
The service was very friendly and fast ( as it should be )
Mr Smulders we have room 206 ready for you, a very nice room with balcony facing the Bay of Rapallo.
As soon as you entered the hotel you will see that the International Beau Monde Jetset stayed here.
You step back in time as soon as you enter the main lobby, it brings you back to the 1900’s.
The Hall with the walls covered with paintings and prints and furniture in Authentic Antiques Style are an eye catcher.
It was time to check out our room for the next two days, room 206.
It’s a very nice room, and also this turns you back to the 1900’s, but in the hallway you have a great Balcony.
Room 206 is part of a connection suite and has his private balcony.
The bed was very comfortable and not from the 1900’s.
The room was not very spacious, but it was just good enough.
A Mini-bar was available as well as a TV.
Free Wifi is only available in the lobby and for a fee also available in your bedroom and the hotel.
The Bathroom brought you also back to the Renaissance time, but it was a very clean, and well maintained spacious Bathroom.
It was time to start to relax after a drive for a couple of hours and the Beach Club is the place to be.
You take a walk over the hotel bridge and you will end up at the Beach club near the Mediterranean Sea.
The Beach Club will become an unique experience for everybody.
Terraces on the sea, a panoramic Swimming Pool with views over the Gulf of Tigullio and two Jacuzzi’s.
Just to name a few features.
It was time to settle in the deck chair and just unwind, leave the stress behind and listen to the surrounding waves and the smell of the sea.
Take a swim in the panoramic pool and hang over the edge from the pool and enjoy the beautiful views of the Gulf of Tigullio.
Late in the afternoon it was time to take a short walk from 10 minutes to the centre of Rapallo.
 
From the Picturesque Castle in the sea to the nice Historical Town center and the small Marina Harbor, they also offer great seafood restaurants.
After a few hours in town, it was time to head back to the hotel.
We still had some time for a few drinks in the Yachting Bar from the hotel, before going back to our room for a good night sleep.
 
After a goodnight sleep it was time to start the new day with a very good breakfast.
Breakfast is served in the Lord Byron Restaurant on the main floor.
You can either sit inside or outside on the terrace, but with these views and excellent weather conditions, everybody will sit on the terrace.
 
The breakfast is served as a buffet, including Champagne if you want.
But after a late night at the Yachting Bar, I was very happy with two glasses of fresh orange juice.
Outside we ordered some omelets and with the buffet we where full and ready to enjoy other day in Rapallo.
The Excelsior Palace Hotel is a great hotel, with one of the Best Beach Clubs I have ever seen.
If you like the relaxing atmosphere, stunning views, you will enjoy this hotel for sure.

Karl from Austria, September 10, 2012 at 11:02 AM I just returned from 4 days at Residence Excelsior. It was great. The suite we had was perfect for our family. It was very clean and the view was amazing. We could jump in the pool or the lake for a swim. For those of you seeking it all, you will find it here. Even though the Residence does not have any hotel like services, the staff is very friendly and helpful, everything you need is a 10 minute stroll down the promenade. Restaurants, ship departures, the local spa and grocery stores are all within comfortable walking distance. We used our kitchen to prepare simple, quiet breakfasts on our lake side terrace. One day we were having so much fun we stayed in our suite all day, made lunch, swam and watched the ships come into the harbour. For the sporty types the Residence is situated directly on the via Ponale hiking and biking paths. The hiking path has breathtaking views over the north end of Lake . We hope to come back next year.
The best hotel in Rapallo
