If you are looking for a trendy and special Boutique hotel, maybe the CitizenM in New York is the place to be for you.
The CitizenM group is a Dutch hotel company, who also have hotels in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Glasgow and Paris.
The idea is simple, you want a trendy hotel with all modern features, but you don’t want to pay too much.
Absolutely no trouser presses, bellboys, or other tired old hotel clichés
And this all for a reasonable price, that is the CitizenM policy.
Friends who stayed here before told me, you must visit the CitizenM once and see how you will experience your stay.
For me, who always stay at the most luxury Hotels in the World, is a 4 star hotel not a common place to stay.
But I liked the idea and my friend told me I am sure you will like this concept.
As soon as you enter the Hotel Lobby, I knew that this would be different like the other Hotels.
I was waiting for the Bell Boy to pick up my luggage, but there is no Bell Boy here.
So that was not a major problem as I only had two pieces of luggage.
So I went to the front desk, just a small round table with 5 computers and a very friendly staff member.

Yes I am about to check in, but this is my first time here and it looks different than the other hotels.

After placing a paper roomkey on a reader, you type your email address on the computer and within 30 seconds everything has been updated.
The check- in was completed within 30 seconden.
I had a quick look around and I saw business travellers but also younger people exploring New York on a city break weekend.
I even noticed a painting from our former Queen Beatrix in the Lobby.
My first impression was very different than the other hotels, but I also felt like being at home.
It was time to see my room 809 on the eight floor.
There are 3 really big elevators, so you will be up and running in a sec.
As soon as you enter the hallway you see the trendy colors.
The paper Room key activates the room and opens the door for you.
The room is small but the bed is big, a XXL bed.
It felt like you arrive in the cabin of a cruise ship.
I was welcomed by the Moodpad, Welcome Citizen Andy, a Samsung device that does it all for you.
It opens the curtains, and sets the mood for the room, by choosing the color you like.
You also can use it for browsing the internet, but the fast WiFi is also free of charge, so you can use your own Iphone of Macbook as well.
The Moodpad is the ultimate gadget during your stay, if you need to set the alarm, operates your TV and music channels, you will need the Moodpad.
They will check if the Moodpad is in your room on arrival and if it still is there after you leave.
Do you like the Moodpad, just pay $ 860,00 and it’s yours.
The XXL bed was very comfortable and it was hard to wake up in the morning.
The bathroom is small but has all the features that you would expect.
A power full shower that makes sure that you have no jet leg any more and a clean toilet.
As you can see my mood was purple this day.
The gym, with all the equipment you need for a good workout.
On level 21 you will have a great Lounge Bar named the Cloud Bar with stunning 360 degrees views.
A great place to unwind in the evening and have a few beers or fancy cocktails.
It was time for our Breakfast.
Many people in New York eat while they are walking, but for a few dollars you can use a very nice breakfast in the Canteen.
The breakfast was great for me, not too much but good enough to start your day.
A few croissants, Dutch Cheese, Salami and a fresh Orange Juice with a nice coffee will make my day.
The check out went as fast as the check in, and I have to say, I was really surprised by this Hotel.
It’s not a Luxury Business Class hotel but it provides you with everything you need.
A great bed, very friendly service by the staff members and a nice price.
And also a Business Man can sleep here, but also the people who like to explore New York are welcome at the CitizenM Hotel.
CitizenM Times Square, you sure made my day, it was great staying with you.
