Breidenbacher Hof A Capella Hotel Dusseldorf
Düsseldorf attracts a lot of Dutch travellers, who use Düsseldorf Airport as a starting point for their journey to exotic places all around the world.
Düsseldorf is not only a great place to start your flight, but the seventh largest city in Germany is renowned for it’s fashion and shopping district.
Düsseldorf’s most elegant shopping street is the Königsallee, and here you will find the Luxury Breidenbacher Hof A Capella Hotel.
It was time to stay at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel for a few days and to explore, if this Capella Hotel is as great or even better, as one of the best Hotels in the world The Capella Hotel in Singapore.
The Capella Group runs only 10 hotels worldwide.
If you are a small hotel company, you are also very flexible and you can upgrade the hospitality service level, to an even higher level than other luxury hotel brands.
The mean reason why the Capella Hotel in Singapore got such a high rating.

History of the Breidenbacher Hof A Capella Hotel.
My first thoughts where, why is this hotel not named the Capella Düsseldorf, like the other Capella hotels in the world.
The Breidenbacher Hof is such an iconic Building for the city of Düsseldorf, that renaming the building was out of the question.
The history of the Breidenbacher Hof begins in 1806, when restaurateur Wilhelm Breidenbach, won a bid for a plot of land in Düsseldorf.
Breidenbach’s vision to erect a hotel for the rich and powerful was realized.
After its opening in 1812, the Breidenbacher Hof flourished, with guests including kings and queens, nobles, politicians and artists, until a major bombing in 1943 destroyed the hotel.
After the hotel’s demolition during World War II, the hotel was re-built and re-opened in 1950.
The property was renovated in 1990 and when it was purchased by the Pearl of Kuwait Real Estate Company, it was decided that the Breidenbacher Hof would be rebuilt, restoring the hotel to its historic grandeur.
The rebuilding of the hotel began in 2006.
The hotel re-opened on May 19, 2008, under the management of Capella Hotels and Resorts.
In 2014 level 9 was added to the hotel.
Being a storage floor, it was now created as the amazing Royal Floor, the floor where we stayed at in room 919
In 2016 all the renovations finished with refurbishing all the other hotel rooms and suites and the Lobby Lounge and Cappela Bar.
This hotel treats every guest as a VIP guest and this is the base for the great service and hospitality provided by the hotel.
To name just a few famous people who stayed at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel over the years are Jayne Mansfield, Gregory Peck, Winston Churchill or Aristoteles Onassis.
More recent George Clooney, President Bush, Prince Albert of Monaco, Angela Merkel, Whitney Houston, ACDC, Phil Collins, Sting and Kevin Costner.
This list goes on and on, all these VIP guests got the same treatment as you, when you will be staying at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel.
Arriving at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel.
We arrived by car, as it only takes 1,5 hours to drive from my hometown to centre of Düsseldorf.
The Breidenbacher Hof hotel, don’t work with standard check in and check out times.
When you book your stay, the Personal Assistant will send you an email and just informs, what your time of arrival will be.
I never experienced this before at any hotel, but this is what you can create, by being a small leading hotel.
You can create something speciale for the guests and a way to feel them like being at home.
The Bell Boy welcomed us and noticed the license plate of the car.
Hello Mr and Mrs Smulders, may I welcome you to the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel.
We will take care of your luggage and car.
After handing over the car key, it was time to enter the Iconic Building.
The phenomenal lobby as you enter the hotel.
The front desk staff member finished up all the latest paperwork and made sure that everything was fine.
At that point we noticed our Personal Assistant.
Your luggage will be transported to your room and the Personal Assistant invited us to the Living Room.
A great personal touch is added to the already superb check in.
The PA or Personal Assistant Susanne, explained all the things we needed to know about the hotel and Düsseldorf.
Susanne can arrange everything for you, booking shows, dinner or just help you with small things like the best place to shop.
The next time you will be visiting the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel, Susanne knows exactly what your need and it will feel like coming home again.
The Personal Assistants desk is located right in the Living Room of the hotel.
This space was created for hotel guests exclusively as a retreat outside of their rooms to enjoy drinks and snacks, hold small meetings or just relax while reading a book.
The Personal Assistants are within reach 24/7.
The Living Room.
The Living Room is reserved for the in house guest only.
It looks a lot similar like the Executive club lounges. where you will find lots of complimentary drinks and snacks.
In the Breidenbacher Hof it feels more like a living room at home, not that busy and more relaxed.
You will find complimentary softdrinks, great cappuccino’s and latte macchiato’s and some fresh fruits in the Living Room.
Just feel at home and relax in the cozy atmosphere of the Capella Living Room.
Our room the Grand De Luxe Room number 919 on the Royal Floor.
In 2014 the hotel added level 9 to the hotel.
Many Royalties stayed at this hotel, that is why this floor has been named the Royal Floor.
As we stayed at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel, there was also a Royal family staying here.
The Royal Floor is equipped with the highest safety systems and offers a discrete entrance to ensure a high degree of privacy.
Even a private entrance is available.
As soon as we entered the Grand de Luxe Room, it felt like we arrived in a suite.
A very large suite, at least 96 sgm in size and complimentary Wifi for as many devices as you need.
You will find a separate toilet and small kitchen area, where you will find the first complimentary mini bar.
A spacious living room with a large TV ( which is an eye catcher ) and desk where you can do some necessary work are also available.
A great attention and yes the scan worked great.
The large bedroom has the same size TV as we saw in the living room.
It also has a second complimentary mini bar in this bedroom.
From the electronic touch panels next to your bed, you can controle all major functions like the light, airconditioning, sound and even close and open the curtains.
The bed was amazing, it was very hard to get up in the morning as the bed was that comfortable that you don’t want to get up at all.
A large bathroom with all the amenities that you need, equipped with a very nice rain shower.
Sporting time.
Before starting my breakfast, it was time to a swim a couple of laps in the great swimming pool.
Comfortable daybeds positioned around the pool.
The fitness center is equipped with the latest in cardiovascular and weight-training equipment.
Breakfast at Brasserie 1806.
The breakfast at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel is served in the Brasserie 1806.
1806 is the year that the hotel had been build for the first time.
Brasserie 1806 will be serving al la carte menu and buffet breakfast at the same time.
And again something special, a nice fresh smoothie that is served at the table by the chef.
The breakfast was supurb, tasteful and a perfect way to start your day.
Lunch and Dinner at Brasserie 1806.
The Brasserie 1806 fine dining restaurant combines attentive service in a relaxing atmosphere.
The panoramic windows offer a beautiful view over Düsseldorf’s Old Town and the eclectic and vibrant area of the German metropolis beside the river Rhine.
Head Chef Philipp Ferber and his team create, with best quality and creative passion, fine regional and French cuisine.
Our young service team serves with charm and capability specialties like juicy steaks, fresh seafood or our special lunch and brunch menus and Plat du Jour.
Perfectly corresponding to the dishes, the walk-in glass wine cabinet offers a great variety of wines from all over the world.
Head Chef Phillip Ferber
If you really like to be served the best meal, just ask Head chef Phillip Ferber to make his speciality dish.
You will be amazed by the great taste and presentation.
Even if you don’t stay at the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel and you want to have a great lunch or dinner, make sure you reserve your seats at this amazing restaurant.
I can highly recommend a dinner at the Brasserie 1806.
Lobby Lounge and the Capella Bar.
After exploring the city, it was time to relax at the Lobby Lounge and Cappella Bar.
The Lobby Lounge is a cozy place to meet for good conversation or to lean back in one of the comfortable sofas to enjoy what is going on around.
In the evening the Capella Bar is the place to be.
The next day it was time to say goodbye to this great hotel.
For sure we will get back to the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel in the near future.
Christmas is coming up in December.
Our luggage was transported to our car and packed by the concierge.
Mr and Mrs Smulders here is the key for your car.
Your car is packed with all your luggage and shopping bags.
I placed two cold mineral waters inside the car for you.
Have a safe trip back home.
The experience started and ended with the great service as we have never seen before.
Small details made this stay very special.
Btmagazine ranks this hotel as an Excellent Hotel.
With a 9.7 it equals the Aman Hotel in Venice in Europe, as the best hotel in Europe.
Also receiving the same rating as the Capella in Singapore
The Capella Hotel in Singapore is a true resort hotel, while the Breidenbacher Hof Hotel is a city hotel.
But the service in both Capella Hotels is outstanding.
